buffer overflow

just because i call my friends
instead of calling you
doesn’t mean i don’t care

just because i’m sittin’ at home
watching TV or on the phone
doesn’t mean i don’t miss you

and just because i’m out on the town
paintin’ it red or burnin’ it down
doesn’t mean it hurts any less

i’ve just become stronger
and i don’t cry any longer
but just because i don’t cry
doesn’t mean the pain went away

just because we laugh and talk
while we’re out on a walk
doesn’t mean i don’t want to hold your hand

and when we go to sleep at night
i lie awake wondering if it was right
and wishing you were by my side

comforting you late in the day
hoping i help your pain go away
but my heart still hurts the same

i’ve just become stronger
and i don’t cry any longer
but just because i don’t cry
doesn’t mean the pain went away
